Hospital and Breeding Facility. The Addo Raptor and Reptile Centre have the need to establish a hospital and breeding/incubation facility, not only to tend to injured animals, but also hatch reptile eggs laid by animals at the centre. It is extremely important that we make every attempt to reproduce the animals within our care. This becomes even more urgent when dealing with animals that are endangered or likely to become extinct. With greater resources we can create suitable breeding enclosures and participate in the endangered breeding programmes, thus greatly improving any breeding potential which will contribute to the survival of the species.
What is the Centre Adoption Program all about? By helping with the costs of caring for the Centres ever increasing range of Raptors and Reptiles, you have the opportunity to contribute towards our efforts to save these wonderful creatures.
What does your donation go towards? Education Programs. Reptiles are amongst the most feared group of animals and it is important that this misconception is corrected. The Addo Raptor and Reptile Centre offers successful education and outreach programs and visitors the opportunity to experience a safe close encounter with these misunderstood creatures.
Rescue, Rehabilitation and Release. The Addo Raptor and Reptile Centre receive many requests for their 'Reptile Rescue Service', from people needing unwanted reptile visitors removed from their properties. Most reptiles are returned to 'safe release zones' after being checked to ensure they are in good health. On occasions some of these animals have been injured, in poor condition and require intensive care.
